Flying Fish

FLYING FISH
(Music in 13 steps)
(música en 13 pasos)
-1-
(0:00 to 0:25)
Depth...
Notes: Aquatic sounds. A mix of grand piano and electric piano with chorus effect to seems that is sounding under the water...
-2-
(0:25 to 0:30)
Shadow... someone big swims by...
Adicional notes: In the background appear some electronic whale sounds to simulate big volume and some "sssshh" effect to obtain a movement sensation...
-3-
(0:30 to 0:46)
Flight of fishes...
Adicional notes: I try to create a volatile synth sound to do the melody in this part. The mean melodie of this synth represent the voice of the bank of fishes. In this part you can listen different types of electronic drops.
-4-
(0:46 to 0:54)
Silence... rays...
Adicional notes: Here I change the accords to something more majestic to present the rays of the sun. Add some celestial voices in very subtle mode to represent the voice of the sun calling. And the orquestral strings enter here, this causes a warm sensation.
-5-
(0:55 to 1:02)
Fishes again...
Adicional notes: The same idea of (3) but with the orquestral stuff.
-6-
(1:02 to 1:07)
One stays in rays...
Adicional notes: In the mean melody of bank fishes... Cellos doing fast movements to represent the action of our fish to stay in rays... out of the rest.
-7-
(1:07 to 1:14)
Reflection (rays) on her face...
Adicional notes: Here I use a Crystaline Bell to represent this rays on her face. This sound is very representative of my music... a little me. Because is the same sound that I used in a lot of songs like a "house brand" (Deshmy Laggio, Point of no return, Erotic moon...etc...)
-8-
(1:14 to 1:22)
Carefully up...
Adicional notes: All the mood changes. Progressive chords rise in tone. The flute is representing our fish.
-9-
(1:22 to 1:28)
A touch to the end of her world... circles on the water!...
Adicional notes: Just in 1:22 you can hear a "cling" of a orquestral triangle. Is the "touch" in the surface of the water.
-10-
(1:28 to 1:36)
Fear!...back... down... to the depth... she gave up...? VERY fast...
to not let herself turn back SPEEDUP!! sun on her face...
Adicional notes: Strong bass sounds (contrabass section and deep synth sounds) to show the fear of the fish. But I put some little bells to optain in all moment a positive tone in the middle of this moment of fear and surrender.
-11-
(1:36 to 1:49)
up...!
Adicional notes: Here enters the percusion to represent the willpower, the force, the fight for her target, her dreams... and enter the brass section to strengthen and energize all (real orquestral brass section and synth brass to make a hybrid mix of sounds). Another time a progressive way of chords every time more and more in  up tone!!.
-12-
(1:49 to 1:52)
We can see with her eyes... sun is closer... CLOSER!...
Adicional notes: Is just the pre-clímax!!
Notas: Justamente el Pre-Clímax!!
-13-
(1:52 to End...)
FLASH!... we are blind for an instant... in slow mode she is getting out... flight (stop frame).
Adicional notes: The big final climax. When the fish go to the surface of the water and start to fly. All the instrumentation appears with all the force and splendor. In 1:56 to 2:00 I create a mix sound between Ocarina and Theremin. Is the voice of our fish out of the water, happy and free!. I enjoyed this sound because remembers me the sound of Gizmo singing in Gremlins film.

Vera Vartanyan is a russian graphic designer, who when she heard my music she risk to write me not about using my music but compose it for her if I like the idea. I liked it and that is how our work begun And this is the music I wrote after receiving her sketches on paper. Now just need to make the video. I look forward to seeing the final result, but will not be possible until after a while. I will continue reporting you on this project so amazing.

Here you can see the sketches on paper that she send to me. And on this lines you can see the description of the timing of every musical sequences. Quite a challenge was for myself, because I had to 'say' a lot of musical things in very few time.

Winter Interlude (Christmas Sampler 2011)

(english version under spanish text)

A grandes males grandes remedios.

English version:

As every year around this time, I have the pleasure of participating in a project led by Javier Bedoya, which consists in creating an album especially for Christmas, called Christmas Sampler in which many musicians collaborate explicitly contributing their musical perceptions of Christmas. Winter Interlude is my contribution this year. Due to various projects in which I am involved, I've hardly had time to make the composition this year. I started playing the guitar "with the Keyboard" on a Saturday morning :). And then came this idea that I recorded that day. As we say around here. To a big problems, find big remedies.
