La composición "The Orchestral Point of no Return" que pertenecerá al próximo CD "XII", ha sido nominada a los" Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2013 "en la categoría de música orquestal contemporánea / instrumental. La gala de la final se realizará el noviembre de este año en el Kodak Theater de Hollywood. Los premios HMMA, son muy respetados por los creadores de tendencias en la industria musical y en Hollywood. Mensualmente se realiza una selección de obras musicales de todo el mundo. En la edición del año anterior destacaron como nominados reconocidos compositores como John Williams por Lincoln, Thomas Newman para "Skyfal"l o Michael Danna por "la vida de Pi".

The composition "The Orchestral Point of no Return" will belong to my next CD "XII" has been nominated for the "Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2013" in the category of contemporary orchestral / instrumental. A veces me ocurre que con el tiempo recurren a mi cabeza nuevas melodías cuando escucho composiciones que he grabado anteriormente. Normalmente lo dejo pasar sin más y simplemente me divierto pensando todas las modificaciones que haría si tuviera que grabar la canción otra vez. Realmente siempre prefiero dedicar el tiempo a hacer cosas nuevas que retomar ideas pasadas. Pero esta vez no he podido sacarlo de la cabeza. Desde hace unos meses que no paro de escuchar unas lineas de voces siempre que retomo Between Worlds. Así que se me ha ocurrido reversionarla con todas esas voces y nuevas melodías. Agradezco a mi esposa, Esther López, la paciencia para cantar más de 10 voces distintas y hacerlo con la dulzura y profesionalidad que necesitaba.

He añadido muchísimos más detalles de producción como guitarras eléctricas y una orquestación más épica. Esta nueva versión también la añadiré como bonustrack en mi próximo trabajo "XII". Sometimes it happens that eventually turn to my head when I hear new tunes that I recorded earlier compositions. Normally no more let it go and just have fun thinking about all the changes I would do if I had to record the song again. Actually I always prefer to take the time to do new things to retake past ideas. But this time I could not get it out of my head. For a few months I can not stop listening to a few lines of voices whenever I return Between Worlds. So I made a new version with all those voices and new melodies. I thank my wife, Esther López, for her patience about recording more than 10 voices sing in different forms and do it with all her gentleness and professionalism that I always need. I added many details of production as electric guitars and a more epic orchestration. This new version also add as a bonus track on my next work "XII". For those who are curious, here are the lyrics phonetically (as usual meaningless) that I created for this occasion:

Estos últimos días he tenido el privilegio de trabajar conjuntamente con el fotógrafo y creador Pere Lliteras, haciendo la composición expresa para su video corporativo. Ha sido todo un reto tener que contar toda una historia en 2 minutos y medio :). Agradezco la confianza ciega que ha depositado en mí. Os dejo con sus propias palabras...

"Tener un video corporativo está cada vez más de moda, muchos fotógrafos empiezan a tener un pequeño clip en sus webs con su manera de trabajar. Lo que quiero mostrar es mi manera de sentir la fotografia, ya que es mi trabajo, pero también mi manera de ver la vida. Podría prescindir el vivir de ello y dedicarme a otra cosa, pero no concibo mis días sin mi cámara. Precisamente eso quiero reflejar en este video. Hay gente que para relajarse practica Yoga o meditación. Yo cojo mi equipo, me levanto de madrugada y me voy a algún lugar donde pueda sentir esa sensación de paz que me invade al verme rodeado de naturaleza. Suelo sentarme en algún rincón y simplemente gozar del espectáculo que se brinda ante mis ojos y muchas, muchas veces vuelvo a casa sin fotos en mi tarjeta de memoria, pero con mi retina llena de bellas imágenes. Quiero transmitir esa paz que siento en este clip, espero haberlo conseguido. (Pere Lliteras)".

These last days I have been privileged to work with the photographer and creator Pere Lliteras, composing the music expressed for his corporate video. It has been a challenge to tell a whole story in only two minutes and a half :). I appreciate the trust that he have placed in me. I leave you with his own words ...

"Having a corporate video is increasingly fashionable, many photographers start to have a little clip on their websites with the way that they work. What I show is my way of feeling the photography, cause it's my job, but also my way of looking at life. Probably I could do another things to live through, but I can't imagine my life without my camera. Precisely why I want to reflect on this video. Some people practice Yoga for relaxation or meditation. I take my equipment, I get up at dawn and go to some place where I can feel that sense of peace that comes over me surrounded by nature. Flooring sit in a corner and just enjoy the spectacle that is given to me and many, many times I come home with no photos on my memory card, but my retina filled with beautiful images. I want to convey the peace I feel in this clip, I hope I have succeeded. (Pere Lliteras) ".

Retrospective - Australis & Roger Subirana



Este es un documento videográfico muy especial. Se trata de unas entrevistas cruzadas que hice junto con mi amigo y también compositor Australis. Dichas entrevistas fueron grabadas en el 2008 durante el viaje que hice a Arizona, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon y Lake Powell, pero hablamos del viaje que hicimos juntos en el pasado a Bryce Canyon durante el 2006. Fué la época en que los dos lanzamos nuestros respectivos CDs: "Australis - The Gates of Reality" y "Roger Subirana - Point of no Return". Debido a este viaje surgió nuestra composición conjunta "The Hoodoo's Whisper". En este pequeño documental podreis conocer un poquito más de esa historia y de nuestra especial formal de vivir y entender la música. Es curioso poder constatar cual era nuestro modo de pensar en el pasado y compararlo con lo que hicimos luego en el futuro.  Ese futuro es nuestro actual presente. Espero que os guste.

This is a very special video document. This is a cross interviews I did with my friend and fellow composer Australis. These interviews were recorded in 2008 during the trip I took to Arizona, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell, but we talk about the trip we took together in the past to Bryce Canyon in 2006. It was the time when we launched our respective  CDs: "Australis - The Gates of Reality" and "Roger Subirana - Point of no Return". Because this trip came our joint composition "The Hoodoo's Whisper". In this short documentary you can learn a little more about that history and our special formal living and understanding music. It is curious to note that our thinking was in the past and compare it to what we did then in the future. That future is now our present. Hope you like.

RS Nuevo logo para una nueva etapa / RS New logo for a new season

El nuevo logotipo ha sido diseñado por el ilustrador y editor Kiko da Silva. Actualmente director de la escuela profesional de ilustración "O Garaxe Hermético" (www.ogaraxehermetico.com). Además, compondré una pequeña banda sonora para su próxima novela gráfica "Baixo a sombra das pedras flotantes". Composición que será incluida también en mi actual CD/proyecto "XII".

El logotipo es un juego visual con la tipografía Japonesa. Algo parecido a una firma Kanji, dibujando con pincel Sumi-e japonés las dos primeras letras de mi nombre. En japonés, casi todos los nombres y la raíz de los adjetivos y de los verbos se escriben en caracteres Chinos llamados kanji. Japón es una cultura que engloba pasado, presente y futuro de una forma muy potente. Donde la más avanzada tecnología se une a las tradiciones milenarias y ancestrales. Pues me parece una buena metáfora de lo que pretendo conseguir en la música. Unir pasado, presente y futuro.

The new logo was designed by the illustrator and publisher Kiko da Silva. Currently director of the professional school of picture "O Garaxe Hermético" (www.ogaraxehermetico.com). In fact, I will compose a little soundtrack for his next graphic novel " Baixo a sombra das pedras flotantes." Composition will be also included in my current CD / project "XII".

The logo is a visual "game" with Japanese typography. Something like a Kanji signature, drawing with Sumi-e Japanese brush the first two letters of my name. In Japanese, almost all the names and the root of the adjectives and verbs are written in Chinese characters called kanji. Japan is a culture that encompasses past, present and future in a very powerful way. Where the most advanced technology joins ancient and ancestral traditions. Well, I think a good metaphor for what I intend to get into the music. Link past, present and future.

El nuevo CD/proyecto consistirá en una recopilación de 12 temas musicales inspirados en 12 obras gráficas de 12 artistas de 12 países distintos. Cada (canción/artista/imágen) simbolizará la hora concreta de un reloj artístico metafórico y será expuesta en este blog a medida que el disco se vaya componiendo a modo de diario evolutivo.

Cada composición será un single presentado independientemente en Jamendo, Youtube, redes sociales... La portada del CD es propia, luego de estar trabajando mediante el programa generador de fractales "Apophysis-2.09" hasta conseguir crear un reloj abstracto de diseño simple y elegante. Un fractal es un objeto semigeométrico cuya estructura básica, fragmentada o irregular, se repite a diferentes escalas. La mayoría de estructuras y formas que podemos encontrar en la naturaleza son de tipo fractal.

The new CD / project consists of a compilation of 12 songs inspired by 12 graphic works by 12 artists from 12 different countries. Each (song / artist / image) symbolize the specific time of a metaphor's clock  and will be exhibited in this blog as a diary evolution of the CD.

Each composition will be presented separately in a single mode, in Jamendo, YouTube, social networks ... The CD cover is made by myself, I was working through the fractal generator program "Apophysis-2.09" to create an abstract's watch with a simple and elegant design. A fractal is a geometric basic structure object, fragmented or irregular, and repeat itself at different scales. Most structures and forms that can be found in nature are fractal-like.

Interlude. A digital sampler CD of Australis , a digital sampler released in 2012, groups together six tracks from previous albums, selected by Australis' audience through several polls performed on their Facebook page; plus two bonus tracks that are part of Australis' fourth physical release, still to be titled. In this unique collection we can find" The Hoodoo's Whisper ", a song composed by our mutual cooperation inspired in the landscapes of Bryce Canyon and also found in my album "Point of no Return (2008)." As many of you know I met Australis several years ago thanks to the music. Both admire the other's work and we gradually forging a friendship that has endured over time.
