RS Nuevo logo para una nueva etapa / RS New logo for a new season

El nuevo logotipo ha sido diseñado por el ilustrador y editor Kiko da Silva. Actualmente director de la escuela profesional de ilustración "O Garaxe Hermético" (www.ogaraxehermetico.com). Además, compondré una pequeña banda sonora para su próxima novela gráfica "Baixo a sombra das pedras flotantes". Composición que será incluida también en mi actual CD/proyecto "XII".

El logotipo es un juego visual con la tipografía Japonesa. Algo parecido a una firma Kanji, dibujando con pincel Sumi-e japonés las dos primeras letras de mi nombre. En japonés, casi todos los nombres y la raíz de los adjetivos y de los verbos se escriben en caracteres Chinos llamados kanji. Japón es una cultura que engloba pasado, presente y futuro de una forma muy potente. Donde la más avanzada tecnología se une a las tradiciones milenarias y ancestrales. Pues me parece una buena metáfora de lo que pretendo conseguir en la música. Unir pasado, presente y futuro.

The new logo was designed by the illustrator and publisher Kiko da Silva. Currently director of the professional school of picture "O Garaxe Hermético" (www.ogaraxehermetico.com). The logo is a visual "game" with Japanese typography. Something like a Kanji signature, drawing with Sumi-e Japanese brush the first two letters of my name. In Japanese, almost all the names and the root of the adjectives and verbs are written in Chinese characters called kanji. Japan is a culture that encompasses past, present and future in a very powerful way. Where the most advanced technology joins ancient and ancestral traditions. El nuevo CD/proyecto consistirá en una recopilación de 12 temas musicales inspirados en 12 obras gráficas de 12 artistas de 12 países distintos. Cada (canción/artista/imágen) simbolizará la hora concreta de un reloj artístico metafórico y será expuesta en este blog a medida que el disco se vaya componiendo a modo de diario evolutivo.

Cada composición será un single presentado independientemente en Jamendo, Youtube, redes sociales... La portada del CD es propia, luego de estar trabajando mediante el programa generador de fractales "Apophysis-2.09" hasta conseguir crear un reloj abstracto de diseño simple y elegante. Un fractal es un objeto semigeométrico cuya estructura básica, fragmentada o irregular, se repite a diferentes escalas. La mayoría de estructuras y formas que podemos encontrar en la naturaleza son de tipo fractal.

The new CD / project consists of a compilation of 12 songs inspired by 12 graphic works by 12 artists from 12 different countries. Each (song / artist / image) symbolize the specific time of a metaphor's clock  and will be exhibited in this blog as a diary evolution of the CD.

Each composition will be presented separately in a single mode, in Jamendo, YouTube, social networks ... The CD cover is made by myself, I was working through the fractal generator program "Apophysis-2.09" to create an abstract's watch with a simple and elegant design. A fractal is a geometric basic structure object, fragmented or irregular, and repeat itself at different scales. Most structures and forms that can be found in nature are fractal-like.

Interlude, de Australis. Interlude. A digital sampler CD of Australis , a digital sampler released in 2012, groups together six tracks from previous albums, selected by Australis' audience through several polls performed on their Facebook page; plus two bonus tracks that are part of Australis' fourth physical release, still to be titled. In this unique collection we can find" The Hoodoo's Whisper ", a song composed by our mutual cooperation inspired in the landscapes of Bryce Canyon and also found in my album "Point of no Return (2008)." As many of you know I met Australis several years ago thanks to the music. Both admire the other's work and we gradually forging a friendship that has endured over time. Land of Silence es el séptimo trabajo musical de Roger Subirana. En esta ocasión nos encontramos composiciones recopiladas desde 2009 hasta 2012. Son temas que se hicieron durante la composición de la macro obra "Shedneryan" y otros que se han grabado posteriormente. Composiciones de distintos estilos y todas ellas instrumentales. Pequeñas bandas sonoras independientes donde el piano es uno de los principales protagonistas esta vez. También como novedad encontramos muchas influencias techno-electrónicas, industriales, planetarias y Sci-Fi para complementar la variedad estilístico de este trabajo.

La portada ha sido obra del artista polaco Michal karzc quien ya fué el autor de la imagen ya tan característica de Roger en su álbum de 2008 Point of no Return. También encontramos las voces adicionales de Esther López, Marek Kwiatkowski y la entrañable colaboración en el bonustrack de los sonidos cantados por el bebé Miguel Bedoya.

La duración del CD es de aproximadamente una hora e incluye los siguientes temas:

Land of Silence is the seventh musical work of Roger Subirana. This time we collected compositions from 2009 to 2012. These are issues that were made during the composition of the macro work "Shedneryan" and others who have recorded afterwards. Compositions of different styles and all instruments. Small independent soundtracks where the piano is one of the main protagonists this time. Also new are many influences-electronic techno, industrial, planetary and Sci-Fi to complement the stylistic variety of this work.

Steel Hearts

Steel Hearts es ya la última composición que formará parte del próximo disco. El nuevo CD se titulará definitivamente Land of Silence y ya estoy trabajando en todo el proceso final, selección de la portada y diseño gráfico, orden de las composiciones etc... Así que os dejo ahora con esta historia de cyborgs inspirada como no por las películas de Terminator, que tanto me marcaron en su época de esplendor cinematográfico.

Steel Hearts is the latest composition of the next album. The new CD is titled Land of Silence definitely and I'm working around the final process, selection of the cover and graphic design, order of the compositions etc ... So I leave you now with this story of cyborgs inspirated as not :) by Terminator films. This Sci-Fi films marked me a lot. But I speak about the first and second films. The golden age of Terminator.

La prestigiosa marca internacional de origen Japonés Shiseido, ha seleccionado para su Spot de Televisión en España mi composición "point of no return" del álbum con mismo nombre publicado en 2008. Aquí os dejo el resultado. Este tipo de reconocimientos animan uno a seguir adelante y luchar en y por lo que cree.

Con Land of Silence ya estamos llegando a la fase final del nuevo CD. Durante los dos años de confección y composición de la macro-obra Shedneryan (2009-2011) hice algunas paradas para la realización de composiciones para diferentes proyectos que me sirvieron (como siempre digo) para descansar de hacer música haciendo música. Añadido a otras canciones que hice por mi propia necesidad. Ahora me doy cuenta que ya casi estamos llegando a una hora de metraje. Y tengo ya otra composición en proyecto en la que trataré de unir una orquestación dramática y contundente a sonidos robóticos y ambientes cyborg. Pero por el momento, os dejo con la sabiduría y la sensibilidad del silencio. En esta composición he experimentado un poco utilizando el sonido de las olas del mar como un instrumento más. En vez de utilizar los típicos reverses o platos que suben en un “sssssssh” para introducir los distintos cambios de la canción, juego con el sonido de las olas para la realizar la misma función. La portada del single es obra de Vera Vartanyan.

With Land of Silence, we're getting to the final phase of the new CD. During the two years of preparation and composition of the macro-work Shedneryan (2009-2011) I made ​​some stops to perform compositions for different projects that helped me (as I always say) to make a break from making music doing more music. Instead of using the usual reverses or cymbal sounds that go up in a "sssssssh" to introduce the changes of the song, I play with the sound of the waves to perform the same function. Vera Vartanyan es una diseñadora gráfica rusa, que cuando escuchó mi música no quiso utilizar nada hecho y se arriesgó a escribirme para encargarme una composición expresa. Así es como empezó nuestro trabajo. Y esta es la música que compuse luego de recibir sus esbozos sobre papel. Ahora sólo falta realizar el video. Espero ansioso ver el resultado final, aunque no será posible hasta dentro de un tiempo. Seguiré informando de este proyecto tan interesante.

Aquí os dejo los bocetos sobre papel que ella me pasó y el texto con las anotaciones musicales de cada fragmento de tiempo describiendo todas las secuencias. Fué todo un reto para mí, porque debía "decir" muchas cosas musicalmente en muy poco tiempo.

Adicional notes: In the background appear some electronic whale sounds to simulate big volume and some "sssshh" effect to obtain a movement sensation...

Notas: En el fondo aparecen algunos sonidos semejantes a los de las ballenas para simular el sonido de algo grande pasando por encima y con un efecto de “ssssshh” para dar sensación de movimiento.

Flight of fishes...

Adicional notes: I try to create a volatile synth sound to do the melody in this part. The mean melodie of this synth represent the voice of the bank of fishes. In this part you can listen different types of electronic drops.

Notas: He intentado crear un sonido de sintetizador volátil en esta parte. La melodía principal de ese sintetizador representa la voz del banco de peces. En esta parte puedes oir distintos tipos de “gotas electrónicas”.

Adicional notes: Here I change the accords to something more majestic to present the rays of the sun. Add some celestial voices in very subtle mode to represent the voice of the sun calling. And the orquestral strings enter here, this causes a warm sensation.

Notas: Aquí cambio los acordes para conseguir algo más majestuoso que representará a los rayos del sol. He añadido algunas voces celestiales de forma muy sutil para reflejar la llamada del sol.

Adicional notes: In the mean melody of bank fishes... Cellos doing fast movements to represent the action of our fish to stay in rays... out of the rest.

Notas: En la melodía principal del “banco de peces” surgen los cellos haciendo rápidos movimientos que representan la acción de nuestro pez quedándose en los rayos, lejos de todo.

Adicional notes: Here I use a Crystaline Bell to represent this rays on her face. This sound is very representative of my music... a little me. Because is the same sound that I used in a lot of songs like a "house brand" (Deshmy Laggio, Point of no return, Erotic moon...etc...)

Notas: Aquí uso un sonido de campanilla sintetizada para representar los rayos del sol en su rostro. Este sonido es representativo de mi músca. Es como la marca de la casa ya que lo he usado en muchas composiciones anteriores (Deshmy Laggio, Point of no return, Erotic moon... etc...).

Adicional notes: Just in 1:22 you can hear a "cling" of a orquestral triangle. Is the "touch" in the surface of the water.

Notas: Justamente en el 1:22 puedes oir el “cling” de un triangulo orquestal. Es el “toque” del pez practicamente en la superficie del agua.

Adicional notes: Strong bass sounds (contrabass section and deep synth sounds) to show the fear of the fish. But I put some little bells to optain in all moment a positive tone in the middle of this moment of fear and surrender.

Notas: Fuertes sonidos de bajos (sección de contrabajos y profundos sonidos sintetizados) para mostrar el miedo en el pez. Pero he puesto algunas campanillas para que en todo momento exista un tono positivo en medio de este momento de miedo y rendición.

Otra vez, los acordes van subiendo de tonalidad progresivamente.

FLASH!... we are blind for an instant... in slow mode she is getting out... flight (stop frame).

Adicional notes: The big final climax. When the fish go to the surface of the water and start to fly. All the instrumentation appears with all the force and splendor. In 1:56 to 2:00 I create a mix sound between Ocarina and Theremin. Is the voice of our fish out of the water, happy and free!. I enjoyed this sound because remembers me the sound of Gizmo singing in Gremlins film.

Notas: El clímax final. Cuando el pez sale del agua para empezar a volar. Aparece toda la instrumentación con toda la fuerza y esplendor. Desde el 1:56 al 2:00 he creado una mezcla de sonido entre una Ocariona y un Theremin. Es la voz de nuestro pez fuera del agua, volando libre y feliz. Me gusta este sonido porque me recuerda a Gizmo, el entrañable bicho peludo que sale en Los Gremlins.

Vera Vartanyan is a russian graphic designer, who when she heard my music she risk to write me not about using my music but compose it for her if I like the idea. I liked it and that is how our work begun And this is the music I wrote after receiving her sketches on paper. Now just need to make the video. I look forward to seeing the final result, but will not be possible until after a while. I will continue reporting you on this project so amazing.

Here you can see the sketches on paper that she send to me. And on this lines you can see the description of the timing of every musical sequences. Quite a challenge was for myself, because I had to 'say' a lot of musical things in very few time.
